Station Hall Community Hub

With funding from the Mayor of London and support from Southeastern and National Rail, we rolled up our sleeves and patched up the vast ‘lost waiting room’ above Herne Hill Station, opening its doors to the public for the first time in ninety years…

Run by and for the local community, we brought this previously derelict space back to life as a vibrant epicentre that delivers far-reaching social impact.

In our first nine months of operation:

  • 456 events were held

  • Hosted by 79 organisations

  • Attended by over 5,000 people

  • With 60% charity or community bookings funded by 40% commercial hire

Station Hall is now a financially self-sustaining CIO serving local charities, community groups and businesses and working with some of London’s hardest to reach communities.

Now we’re working with architects to create a fully accessible Station Hall, embarking upon a fundraising programme for ~£2m of capital investments.

Roles: concept development, project management, team recruitment, community & stakeholder engagement, fundraising, events management, evaluation
