Guinness World Record, Colour-By-Numbers Mural

The station underpass was the most complained about ‘grot-spot’ in Herne Hill. Years of relationship building with the site owners (Network and Southeastern Rail) and the local council (Lambeth) resulted in a successful regeneration programme.

As part of this, funding was secured for a tranche of improvement works, including a forty metre long mural depicting local people and places of note.

Artist Victor Szepessy was commissioned to create a 40m long mural, which was coloured in by 2,332 locals in a Guinness World Record Breaking colour-by-numbers marathon! Eight local schools took part in the World Record attempt, including one for children with special educational needs.

Roles: concept development, project management, fundraising, schools engagement, community engagement, volunteer coordination, planning, delivery, evaluation
